Our hearts go out to all the members of our local community due to the recent events that have transpired. These events are even more saddening given that we are entering the Holiday Season. We want to help! So we've started a Christmas Stocking Drive to help alleviate parent's stress of Christmas Morning.
This drive is starting now and will go to the middle of finals week, which is when all the stockings will be delivered to parents/organizations. This is styled after the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child, only instead of shoe boxes we are stuffing stockings.
If you want to get involved buy a Christmas Santa-styled Stocking and fill it with candy, gum, small toys, and accessories, (it doesn't need to be expensive, dollar store or walmart items work great) anything that you think a child would enjoy and like to open come Christmas Morning. Drop off location is TBA. (NOTE: Please no violence related items) Please check our social media accounts for updates. If you would like to help but don't want to put together a stocking, we are also accepting item donations (that we will then put in stockings) or there is a go fund me page set up and the money we receive will go towards buying the items.
Need help thinking of Items, here are some ideas:
Candy (ie m&ms, herseys, skittles, etc)
Gum, toy cars, stuffed animals, dolls, yo-yos, jump ropes, inflatable ball, hacky sacks, kaleidoscopes, little games/puzzles, cute hair ties, nail polish, fun socks/gloves, mints, coloring books and crayons, chalk, etc
One important thing to remember through this Holiday Season, is it doesn't matter how you help, just help! When out and shopping buy a couple of extra canned goods, grab friends and go caroling at your local homeless shelter/retirement home, if mom's updating towels for the holidays think about donating your towels to the local animal shelters or even donate an extra bag of dog/cat food. Everything helps!!!
